The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found J. B. (John Boynton) Priestley

For once, the weather forecasters were right. . . woke to some big, fluffy snowflakes falling. It snowed enough for it to stay on the ground for a bit, but as the day wore on, it warmed up and everything melted.
I’m looking forward to the skies clearing and seeing the mountains with their fresh coat of snow.

Wonderful photos – but a bit early in my book for snow … something magical with snow anyhow and especially the first for the year. I think it’s the child in us … *smile – my pick is the last photo.
I agree – it’s too early for snow. I doubt that it will last – we’ll still have some beautiful autumn days. Usually be January 1st, I’m ready for spring.
We have wonderful weather here too … just now.
Nights are cold .. but I hope no snow until Christmas.
In a way I’m pleased the snow is beginning to fall there… I thought you might be in for a mild winter which would not bode good for us… we are already suffering from floods in certain parts of the country with half a metre (18 inches ) of rain falling in a week… my cousin lives in one of the badly hit areas and is cut off from any access completely, he now lives like on an island… we need you to start having winter to normalise the southern hemisphere… so that is why I’m pleased you are now going to get winter…
:-). It’s a little too early for me. We had another dusting of snow overnight last night and more in the forecast. We probably won’t get our heavy snowfalls until later in the year.
So pretty, I love these!
Thank you so much.
Magic… Love the last pic! 🙂
Thanks so much, Zelmare. The first snow is always a little magical – even if it doesn’t stick.
The mountains were dusted down here yesterday. I think theres more snow on the way too. I should take a break from wedding pics and get some shots.
There was a photo in the local paper this morning taken up at Mt. Bachelor ski area. The trees were thick with snow – they had about 6″ or so of snow on them. We had another dusting last night and more is expected.
Nothing hit the valley floor, but our foothills got a dusting. Lovely shots, Maralee!
The skies cleared today so we have a clear view of the mountains. I’m going to try get out on my lunch break to get some photos of them.
Beautiful photos of the colorful leaves decorated with white. It reminds me of a snowfall we had quite a few years ago in October. It was a heavy snowfall that stayed around for a while, and took down most of the electric wires with it. Because the trees still had leaves to catch the snow, it was too heavy for many of the limbs and they broke, taking the high wires with them. We were out of electricity for 5 days.
I enjoy looking at the snow but I sure don’t like it much when it wreaks havoc on everything else. It must have been miserable not having electricity for 5 days . . . and cold.
