Day 296 – First Snow

The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found     J. B. (John Boynton) Priestley

For once, the weather forecasters were right. . . woke to some big, fluffy snowflakes falling. It snowed enough for it to stay on the ground for a bit, but as the day wore on, it warmed up and everything melted.

I’m looking forward to the skies clearing and seeing the mountains with their fresh coat of snow.

  1. Wonderful photos – but a bit early in my book for snow … something magical with snow anyhow and especially the first for the year. I think it’s the child in us … *smile – my pick is the last photo.

  2. In a way I’m pleased the snow is beginning to fall there… I thought you might be in for a mild winter which would not bode good for us… we are already suffering from floods in certain parts of the country with half a metre (18 inches ) of rain falling in a week… my cousin lives in one of the badly hit areas and is cut off from any access completely, he now lives like on an island… we need you to start having winter to normalise the southern hemisphere… so that is why I’m pleased you are now going to get winter…

  3. Beautiful photos of the colorful leaves decorated with white. It reminds me of a snowfall we had quite a few years ago in October. It was a heavy snowfall that stayed around for a while, and took down most of the electric wires with it. Because the trees still had leaves to catch the snow, it was too heavy for many of the limbs and they broke, taking the high wires with them. We were out of electricity for 5 days.
