The last few days we’ve had a slight haze in the air. I don’t know of any fires in the area so I don’t know what is causing it. But it does create a beautiful golden glow to the sky just after sunset. I’ve been taking my camera along with me on my evening walks and took a few shots of my favorite tree.
Fawn update: If you recall from my last two posts, Friday we had a fawn with an injured leg in our back yard. Momma came around Friday night and nursed here and then left. Momma was back Saturday morning but left after a little while. We were out most of the day and when we came back, there were two fawns in our back yard.
Last night Momma came around just after sunset to pick up the “kids” from the babysitter. The second fawn easily followed her but the one with the injured leg couldn’t keep up. We watched it try to follow Momma for about 20 minutes after Momma and other baby had left. The last we saw of the fawn before it got too dark to see was in the front of our yard heading in the general direction the Momma had.
This morning I looked all over our yard to see if the injured baby was still here. I didn’t see it anywhere. I was hoping that Momma came back for it and all was well.
Late this afternoon, the injured fawn was in our back yard again. I don’t know if it’s been here all day and was just hiding or if it somehow found its way back to our yard. So for now, its back in the safety of our yard.

Oh, I hope the fawn gets better and reunites with its momma.
Momma was in the yard this morning when I left for work. The little one just doesn’t get around very well on 3 legs yet.

This lilac shade on the sky you also get where two oceans meet. Beautiful surroundings you have … stunning photos. By the way.. haven’t you received any of my postcards ??? Forgotten to ask you. Glad that it had found a safe house with you – sure it will be alright, but it’s worrying if the foot/leg doesn’t heal alright, will it be able to survive???? On the other hand dogs can run with 3 legs. Heartbreak anyhow. How cruel and tough life can be for our wild friends.

Thank you. I think we have a happy ending. The injured fawn seems to be getting along very well on 3 legs. He left with momma and sibling last night and was able to keep up with them.

These posts are breaking my heart too. It must kill you to watch it. It’s entirely possible the doe wanted the fawn to stay put. They do leave their fawns places, but usually come back. I glad the baby feels safe in your yard.
I’m thinking we have a happy ending to the story. Momma came back last night with the sibiling to pick up the injured fawn (who I call ‘hop-along’) and hop-along was getting around great. He was able to keep up with momma so when they left the yard last night hop-along went with them. I’m hoping they will come back to visit occasionally so I can keep track of hop-along.
