“When anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.”
– Rainer Maria Rilke
I have always been drawn to water. There is something about the sound of the waves crashing and the smell of the salt air that relaxes me.

I love the ocean! I find such a sense of peace when I’m there. Great captures!
I do too. There is such peace and tranquility at the ocean – even when it is storming.
Very nice series.
Thank you, David.
Maralee, what can I say .. your coastline photos are just fantastic … and this entry is so exquisite.
Thanks, Viveka. It made me want to go back to the coast. How are you feeling? Any relief?
Maralee, not much … and my doctor hasn’t come back to me neither – so it has to wait until I’m back from NYC.
Thanks for asking …
I wouldn’t mind to back to your coastline neither.
This is beautiful! Love the first and third photos the best, but really, they are all very nice.
Thank you so much.
There is nothing quite like the sea for ones health… it is always so relaxing to the mind and soul, that ones well being has no option but to agree…
I know what you mean. I’m heading to the ocean for a couple of weeks in November and I’m really looking forward to it.
I love your coast pictures. What a difference from your regular landscape. We are going to the North Carolina coast soon. Your pics make me anxious to go.
I can’t wait to see your North Carolina photos. I’ve never been to the east coast. I’m heading to the ocean in November and can’t wait.
Wonderful!
Thank you, David.
A great set of pictures. Is the sea warm enough to swim in?
The water on the Oregon coast is pretty cold. You will see some surfers out there but they’re usually wearing wet suits. Some brave soles may take a quick dip in the water in the summer.
i agree – there’s just something about being at the ocean’s shore. enjoyed these images – that seagull click is delightful! thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much. For some reason, I’ve always like seagulls. Maybe it’s because there were so many in the area where I grew up that they bring back a bit of nostalgia.
So very pretty…the images remind me of Gunta’s work at her blog “Movin On.” I think you would enjoy her photography of the Oregon coast. She’s on my blog-roll if you want to check her out.
Thank you for directing me to Gunta’s blog. It’s gorgeous.
You’re very welcome…it’s one of my favorite minute-vacation spots!
Beautiful, back in the 70’s, I remember bumming around with my friends. I went out to climb up one of those big rocks when the tide was out. I sat there and read the morning paper…until the tide started coming in and it was time to go back on shore. Thanks for the memories!
