It was a gorgeous day today and we decided to take a little drive in the afternoon. We hadn’t been around the Cascade Lakes recently so we took the 83 mile circle drive.

Our first stop was at the Osprey View Point at Crane Prairie Reservoir. It has been 11 years since I was last there. It’s a 1/2 mile walk and a well maintained path to the water. I was hoping we would see some osprey but there were none to be found. But we did see many dragonflies – something I don’t see often in Bend. The didn’t stay still for long but I was able to photograph a red and blue one.

Next stop was a Little Lava Lake. There were a lot of people out enjoying the water in their kayaks and paddleboards.

Last stop for the day was at Lava Lake campground. They had some beautiful tall reeds in the water next to a dock and the movement of the dock caused the water to ripple. I love the look of the reeds reflecting in the water.
We will be exploring some of the other lakes on the Cascades Lakes in the coming weeks. There are too many places to go to do it in one day.

Wonderful photos. I find the last one really beautiful.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thank you, Francine.
Love the dragonflies. The colors are amazing. I wonder if the different colors mean anything. They’re certainly not for camouflage!
Thanks so much. I was really excited when I saw the red and blue dragonflies. We used to get the black ones in Minnesota. There were plenty of black ones here to, but the colored ones I hadn’t seen before.
Beautiful photos. I especially liked the detail of the dragonflies.
Thank you, Judy.
Love the last photo. Has an air of Monet!
Thanks, Carissa. I was really happy that it turned out as well as it did. Sometimes things don’t turn out quite how I think it should look. This one did.
The last photo is magnificent… what a capture… lovely looking area for photography… love it..
Thank you, Rob. It is a very pretty area here. It’s even prettier when there is snow on the mountains.
You live in a stunning area – dragonflies, haven’t seen any for years and years. Beautiful cratures.
The red one … so stunning. My pick here is the last one – the colors are stunning.
Thank you, Viveka. I hadn’t seen red and blue dragonflies before so I was excited to see them. And lucky that they sat still long enough for me to photograph them.
When I see bug .. they are to busy to sit still long enough for me .. or it’s me that is too slow. Never seen a red dragonfly neither – blue I seen. They are so beautiful.
Gorgeous pictures, Maralee. That last one looks like an impressionist painting. Really beautiful. 🙂
Thank you, Zelmare. I was happy with the last one. I wanted it to come out like I pictured it in my mind and it did.
I’d like a tattoo of that first dragonfly. And that last one is so cool!
Thanks, Wendy. I thought the dragonflies were pretty. I hadn’t see the red and blue before . . . only black.
Très belles images , nice ! 🙂
Thank you very much.
