While I was in Portland, I picked up a new macro lens at Pro Photo Supply. The people there were very helpful and knowledgeable and I narrowed it down to a 90mm Tamron macro lens. It helped that there is a $50 rebate going on now.

Today I went out to try it out. It will take some getting used to after using a zoom lens for so long. A tripod is helpful. I just took a couple different perspectives of a pine cone and some patina on a ceramic pot I have. I look forward to working more with this lens.

How exciting! Looking forward to your coming macro-shots!
I’m looking forward to getting out and working with it more.
Way cool:)
Thanks. It’s fun to try new things.
Congrats with a new lens. 🙂 These first shots are great!
Thank you. I can’t wait to get out and try different shots. Hopefully it will pique my creativity.
Nice shots! Have fun with your new toy!
Thanks, Carissa. New toys are always fun. I haven’t had a new toy in a long time. 🙂
Wow, very impressive, love them, look forward to more.
Thank you very much.
WOW! Beautiful shots from your new lens. The pine cone is my favoriate. Can’t wait to see more of your photos with new lens. Makes me think about getting one.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
I’ve been wanting to get a macro for a while. I’ve been saving for months and it was the perfect opportunity to get it.
Great new perspectives. Love the final product. Great job, Mar.
Thanks so much Joyce. How’s everything going with you?
That’s what I miss on my little compact camera – a good macro …. my canon macro lense are super – but all laying there now, maybe I should sell my lenses , because even if I buy a new SDL camera they say that my lenses will not fit. The last photo is my pick for today.
I know what you mean. I have a bunch of lenses from my old film cameras that won’t work on my digital cameras.
Yes, it’s all about making more money … and to sell them will not give much back neither. Maybe there is a good compact with a very good marco and I can have 2 small.
Way to go Maralee, congrats on your new toy! I wish I could buy one myself… I think I will ask for my birthday haha. Great first shots…ready for some more!
Thanks, Joanna. Now I can try get some gorgeous water drops like the one’s you do.
would love to see them… 😀
The pine cone close-up look like stacked mushrooms. Nice shots. 🙂
I have nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award. Please pick up here. http://wp.me/p23TG1-JZ

Fun! I love the last shot especially. Enjoy.
Pine cones. I love them, yet I thought I was looking at mushrooms. A fun surprise and great photography. 😀
A couple of people thought they were mushrooms. That was my husband’s first thought.
Thanks for letting me camp out in your blog for a little while. I had a great time and tried to leave my campsite as clean as when I arrived. I’ll be back!
Thanks for hanging out in my blog. I’ve enjoyed seeing your photos. I look forward to seeing more.
