This interesting beetle was sitting on my daisy one evening. 
I got up close and personal and it didn’t seem to be bothered by it. I liked how it has such a hard shell on the outside, yet underneath the shell it looks soft and silky.

I really need a macro lens. Is that what you used here?
Yes. I have a Tamron 90mm macro and I love it. I got it last year when they had a rebate offer. It lets me get about 1″ away from the subject.
That’s the lens I’m saving for at the moment! Can’t wait to get my hands on it! Lovely shots!

Beautiful shot, Maralee. When you use your macro, what are your settings? (I don’t have a macro lens, but it’s next on my list, I think. That, or better studio lights).
I usually use aperture priority and try out different depths of field. I didn’t use a tripod with these but most times I will. If it want a large depth of field, my shutter speed is usually too slow for hand held. These were at f/20 but I had my ISO cranked up to 4000 so I could hand hold it.
