This interesting beetle was sitting on my daisy one evening.
I got up close and personal and it didn’t seem to be bothered by it. I liked how it has such a hard shell on the outside, yet underneath the shell it looks soft and silky.

The world as I see it
I really need a macro lens. Is that what you used here?
Yes. I have a Tamron 90mm macro and I love it. I got it last year when they had a rebate offer. It lets me get about 1″ away from the subject.
That’s the lens I’m saving for at the moment! Can’t wait to get my hands on it! Lovely shots!
It’s beautiful!
Looks like a june beetle…
I thought it was pretty cool looking.
Creepy and cool all in one poto
Thanks, Mo.
Eeeeekkk a bug 🙂 Great shots.
I don’t mind bugs unless its a cockroach or a giant centipede or something. We used to get those in Hawaii.
These are magnificent, worthy of National Geos… wonderful captures…love that lens of yours…
Thanks, Rob. Your words inspire me.
Excellent images, Maralee.
Thank you, Mike.
Not sure I remember, but the weird one is most likely Ringo.
I actually thought it resembled George a little more.
Beautiful shot, Maralee. When you use your macro, what are your settings? (I don’t have a macro lens, but it’s next on my list, I think. That, or better studio lights).
I usually use aperture priority and try out different depths of field. I didn’t use a tripod with these but most times I will. If it want a large depth of field, my shutter speed is usually too slow for hand held. These were at f/20 but I had my ISO cranked up to 4000 so I could hand hold it.
Thanks! Very helpful.
