Hens and Chicks

Maralee_Park_130316_44025-EditMaralee_Park_130316_43989_8_7-Edit Maralee_Park_130316_44000-Edit Maralee_Park_130316_44037-EditMy Hens and Chicks succulents are expanding and are starting to flower.  I love these plants and like that they are taking over my “desert-scape” area of my yard.  They don’t need much water so they’re perfect in that area.

  1. and when I saw the title on my email I thought you had gone chicken farming… love these plants, never seen them before but beautifully photographed…

    1. I like these plants because they’re interesting and they grow quite easily in our high desert climate. We started with one plant (the hen) and now have about 100 more plants (the chicks) that grew from that one. I’m fine with that. We have it planted in an area of our yard that doesn’t have any water going to it so it makes the area green without having to put sprinklers in that area.
