At least I think it’s Jupiter. I photographed this on Monday evening when the planet Jupiter was so close to the moon. I was never very good at astronomy, so please correct me if I have the wrong planet in this photo.
Maralee, this is outstanding… I took a couple of early morning photos before sunup and there was a bright star that I managed to capture in the photos… I wish someone could tell me what that star is.. I’ve always known it as the morning star… lovely capture…
I’m learning new things every day through photography. There’s always someone who has answers. 🙂 Another blogger http://skm1963.wordpress.com/ suggested a phone app. I may have to do that so I know what I’m looking at.
Thanks, AJ. I was very lucky that the skies were so clear that night. I’ve never seen Jupiter so close to the moon and I’m sure I won’t be around for the next time it’s that close.
That be Jupiter and the Moon. I took some photos, but have not looked at them yet.
Thanks for confirming that for me.
Lovely … you have come as far.. with your moon now – Jupiter, so tiny …
Thank you Viveka. I was fortunate that we had clear skies that night. That doesn’t happen often in the winter.
Excellent shot Maralee.. Love the composition!
Thank you so much.
Excellent shot, Maralee! Wow.
Thank you, Carissa.

What an incredible shot!
I have a couple of App’s on my phone (sad I know) which allow you confirm constellations and planets – I believe you are spot on with Jupiter
I may have to get an astronomy App for my phone. I’m always wondering what is what.
Not only is that Jupiter, you captured it as close to the moon as it will get for a very long time. We’ll done as always!

Maralee, you’ve just got it! Wow! Beautiful picture…
Thank you, Zelmare.
Really neat photo – love it. You can get lost in it. Great eye
Thanks, Joyce. How are you doing?
Ikaragarria! (Amazing)
