I got up very early this morning to photograph dawn on the horizon. We’ve had very clear, cold mornings and the sun rising has been beautiful. I had hoped to have a little more red in the horizon but the sun didn’t cooperate. However, it was beautiful being out in the quiet of the morning, listening to owls talking to one another. It was too dark to see them, but I certainly could hear them.
As I was driving home, the sun was just hitting the tops of the mountains so I had to stop to take a couple of shots.
Maralee

the mountain top is so amazing! the colors are beyond!
Thank you so much. I appreciate your comments.
image number two just makes me want to follow the road and find out what comes next
Thank you, Jo.
That bottom shot is just exquisite!
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Reminds me of the sunset I saw tonight!
Thanks, Bonnie.
Wow.. What a beautiful view you have on your drive home! Amazing.
Thank you. Some days when it’s clear like this and the snow is on the mountains, it just about takes my breath away.
I am always disappointed by the sunrise, it never seems to be as colourful as the sunset, and just looking at your photo of the sun going down on the mountains… beautiful… what a magnificent view you have on your way home… must make the end of each day so special…
We have had some spectacular sunrises, but usually our sunsets are better. We’ve had such clear skies with no clouds whatsoever. I think clouds can give it a lot more interest.
Omigosh. I posted mine before seeing yours. I’ve got a second one scheduled for tomorrow morning too, and it feels like you and I were on the same wavelength!
Beautiful photos, as always!
Thanks, Carissa. I do think we were on the same wavelength.
second is so eye soothing…I can keep looking at that pic forever….
Lovely Pic…
Thank you so much. There is something about the mountains that is so soothing.
I can feel exactly the same just by looking at it.
Thanks for posting it…..
btw which place is this..??
It is in Bend, Oregon.
ok…thanks again….
Both shots are beautiful, but the last one is just stunning 🙂
Thank you, Inga. I could sit and look at the mountains all day.
Wow! I love both of the photos, but as everyone else is saying, the bottom one is especially beautiful!
Thank you so much. I love the mountains . . . especially in the winter when they’re covered with snow.
I can see this must have been a great moment!
