We have one house on our street that is lit up with Christmas lights. I’ve wanted to take photos of it and experiment a little. Tonight it was a true winter night . . . cold, snowing, and the perfect night to go out and photograph it.
I did three different shots – one normal, one with the lens blurred as much as possible, and the other zooming on a long exposure.
After about 5 minutes, my fingers froze and that was about all I could do.

There’s a fine line when decorating our homes between too much or too little. You can make a statement either way.
There are a couple of areas around here where the entire street goes all out decorating. This was the only house on our street that went “all out” but they have young children who I’m sure enjoy it. Our house is the “black hole” on the street. We don’t decorate. I guess we’re the grinches. 🙂
That first photo is stunning – even if I don’t like over decorated houses – like it because it has all the rainbows shade and your photo is so clear. Wonderful … Thanks for the kind words over my Christmas card. Have to check out your FB !!!!
Thanks, Viveka.
I don’t think this one is over-decorated. I think they got it just right! Lovely photos, Maralee!
I don’t think it’s over decorated myself. There are some homes around here that are. But I like the fact that when I come home from work and I see this house, it’s cheers me up a little. Then I drive into our black hole. 🙂
