The air quality in our area due to the smoke from the wildfires is at an unhealthy level and we are advised to stay indoors as much as possible. But on my drive to work this morning, the sunrise was so beautiful, I had to get out and photograph it. The sun was a red ball of fire rising above the horizon.

Tonight the sunset was spectacular. I went down to the canal and the sun was setting right over the water. I got some of the glow in the water. The close up of the sunset looks very dark around it. I metered on the red sun and everything else was pretty dark. If I had matrix metered it, the sun would have been washed out. I wanted to show the red of the sun so I used the spot metering.

I say the same thing every time but I don’t know what else to say – you’re images are amazing. It really makes me want to step up my game. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks, Susan. Funny you should get inspiration from me – I get inspiration from you. 🙂

Beautiful shots and colors….I know that much land has burned around Sisters….sad…but incredible photos:)
Thanks. Yes, it’s sad so much of the forest is burning. We can be thankful that no lives have been lost or homes burned. Lets hope they’re able to contain it soon.
Amen:)
What a magical moments you captured dear Maralee, fascinated me. Thank you, love, nia

So beautiful shot… 😉
Thank you very much.
Just too pretty for words. 🙂
Thank you, Zelmare. Ever since the fire started, we’ve been having some really spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
Maralee, you’re on fire now … wonderful, wonderful …. that last photo is so good. My pick will be – Sun setting over the canal – because of the softness in it.
Thanks, Viveka.
Great stuff on your blog as always 🙂
Thank you, Hitesh.
