There’s an area that we walk near our home that has an unusually large number of crows (maybe they’re ravens). There must be hundreds, maybe even thousands, of these birds. The cacophony of these birds fills the air where you can hardly hear yourself talk (ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit . . . but it’s loud).
The birds blend in with the trees pretty well but I started counting the birds I could see in one tree. I thought I’d make it a game by photographing a tree and then count the birds. But as soon as I pointed my camera toward the tree, they started flying off. You can still see some birds sitting in the trees.
As an update to my fawn story yesterday, momma came back yesterday afternoon and stayed with baby. She is still nursing baby and it would have made a wonderful photograph. But I don’t want to disturb them and the railing on our back deck prevented getting a photo through the window.
This morning momma was still here. Baby is walking a little and putting a little pressure on the injured leg. We were out all afternoon and when we came home, we have another fawn in the yard. Momma must be bringing her family over here. They must feel safe here.

Love the crows (or ravens). Happy to hear things are going well with Momma and kids.
I think they probably were ravens, but counting crows sounded better. 🙂
I’m so glad you’re providing them a safe haven. I hope you will keep us posted. I’m feeling optimistic about the injured fawn.
Good no cutting of the lawn… so glad to hear the progress and would love it if you got another photo or two… but to get back to your today’s photos… great, they look to me like ravens, but don’t quote me on that.. lovely captures and yes they are a rowdy bunch…
Great to read that the deer’s feel safe together with you – and that the mum has accepted that her baby have found a place to heal without any stress. I like crows – beautiful bird close up … but very noisy and naught.
Forgotten the “y” on the end .. naughty.
I saw a huge gathering of crows pass over my house a few days ago. They settled in the woods and make a terrible racket for a long time, before moving on. Did you notice the noise?
Yes. They were very loud.
Beautiful crows. An ever growing family of them lives close to our house, so they entertain us often. But not exactly photogenic. I love your photos. Great captures!!
I’m so glad baby is being looked after by mom! 🙂
