There are a lot of things going on in Bend this weekend.  One is the annual
Balloons Over Bend” festival.  This year the weather cooperated perfectly.  I had only been to the night glow once before and wasn’t very successful in taking photos.

They changed the location since late attempted night shots so I thought I would give it a try again.  I went across the river so I could get some reflections in the water.  What a beautiful night it was.

  1. Maralee these photos are absolutely beautiful. I am glad you captured the reflections. About 10 years or more ago we had such an event in our Point State Park and I took pictures with my little throw away camera I had at the time and it didn’t capture the quality of yours. Thanks for bringing this event to us and revising my memory. Have a great weekend.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

    1. Thank you, Francine. We were fortunate to have such a beautiful evening for it. There were actually five balloons participating in the evening glow but two of them were positioned behind the middle balloon so we weren’t able to see much of them.

  2. And what beautiful, PERFECT, shots. The only time they had balloons here it was 90 minutes away and a 6am start time. I got up at…. you know what? It’s a long story so I’ ll blog about it sometime. Nothing as eye-catching or breath-taking as what it looks like you experienced. But memorable, none the less.

    1. We had really great weather for the balloons this year. Some years I get up and go down there for the launch and it’s too windy, or cloudy, or something and they aren’t able to take off. This year it was absolutely perfect.

  3. Incredibly Beautiful! The colors of the sky, balloons and glow all captured in an image.
    Great photography Maralee. Moment captured!

    1. Thanks, David. They used to have the event in June and the weather was so unpredictable. They weren’t able to take off more than half the time. The July weather is a little more consistent and this year was perfect. I always felt bad for the people who traveled from out of town for the event and were disappointed when nothing was able to take off.

  4. Lovely photos, Maralee. You make me think I might get up at 3:00 in the morning for this year’s Reno Balloon Races. Dawn Patrol is awesome and I haven’t been to it in years.

I'd love to hear from you
