I’ve always been fascinated by poppies. The flowers look like they’re made out of crepe paper and look so delicate. I used to have some in my garden, but I don’t know what happened to them. My co-worker brought me one that was growing in her yard.

I struggled with photographing these. I tried three different locations. One was outdoors at the office, one outdoors at home, and one indoors at home. I just couldn’t seem to get it exactly as I’d like.

Photo 0001 was taken at home indoors with a black background. Photos 00002 and 00003 were taken outdoors at home with a white background, and 00004 was taken outdoors at work.

Why do I always seem to see flowers differently when looking at a photo, than looking at the real thing? It is they way people photo them and I love yours…
Thank you. I just started really looking at flowers when I started photographing them. There is so much fine detail in the flowers. I find it amazing what nature can do.
Just what I though, I look at a flower and take a photo, when I look on the screen I see something that I did not see on the flower its amazing the detail we seem to miss with the eye but the camera doesn’t…
Maralee, you’re going to have to have a gallery showing for all your amazing photography!
Thank you, Susan. You make me blush.
Poppy … is my favorite flower object really – but I don’t know if I like them pink *smile … stunning photo’s – but the color isn’t right for me. My pick is the last photo. I have seen pink poppies, but we don’t agree. For me they have be warmly red. Not your fault *laughter
I, too, like the really red poppies. We used to have red poppies in our garden and I don’t know what happened to them. I think my husband pulled them up one year thinking they were a weed. I have to find some more to plant.
I like the first one because of the dark background and the way the light falls on the petals. The last one looks like it has a candy button in its center.
The center does look like a hard candy, doesn’t it. Thanks for pointing it out. I hadn’t thought about that before.
Gorgeous! I LOVE no.1, and then no.4. You make me want to go and find flowers to photograph too! 🙂
Thank you so much. Ever since I started photographing flowers, I’ve been drawn to all the fine details that nature gives us. It’s amazing.
I love poppies too and you photgraphed them beautifully…it is something about poppies …I think it’s the delicate petals who look like crepe paper or something. Great shots Maralee
Dear Maralee, wow, I fall in love with them… These are so beautiful, like a great poetry! Thank you dear Maralee, with my love, nia
Our poppies were hurt, so they don’t look all that great.
I do like the look of these.
Love these photos. Poppies are so amazingly beautiful.
