Today was another gorgeous day. I had so much going on that I didn’t get out to do photos until late in the day and I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to photograph. As I was looking out our kitchen window, one of the trees in our back yard was in full bloom and it smelled so good. So before the sun had a chance to set, I went out to photograph some of the blossoms.

The bees were buzzing around the blossoms but the didn’t want to stay still long enough for me to get a shot of them. One bee stayed on a blossom long enough for me to try capture him.

That looks like the Darth Vader of bees . . . could it be a wasp? I’ve not seen a bee like that. I’ll see if I can find it.
I assume you applied some filters on the flowers? It suits them.
I think it was some kind of wasp too but I’ve never seen one with a tail that looked like that. Let me know if you find out what kind it is.
I looked it up and it sort of looks like a baldface hornet although in my photo I can’t actually see the face. The tail looks right, though.
I concur. I had never seen one of these (nor knew they existed). Thanks.
Lovely photos, is it a bee or a wasp? Never seen a bee like that in my country, but a good snap in any case.
I think it’s some kind of wasp but I’m not sure.
Dear Maralee these are beautiful photographs but in the first one there is something more than beautiful… Fascinated me. Thank you have a nice new week, love, nia
Thank you, Nia. Have a beautiful week.
Very Beautiful!
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thank you.
Soft and beautiful… 🙂
Thank you so much.
beautiful soft blossoms…love your shots…and a bee or wasp? I have no idea…never seen it before
Thanks, Joanna. We determined it is a baldface hornet. I’d never seen one before either. They’re kind of interesting.
This is SPRING for me .. . was out taking photos too from apple blossom this weekend and I manage to get a massive bumblebee in one of my photos – bigger then the flowers.
Beautiful photo, Maralee – Last one my pick!
Very beautiful, especially the first, but all..
again, these are so pretty, so soft. love that first one.. : )
Such beautiful blooms. (I fell so far behind in reading my favorite blogs, that I am still trying to catch up.) I always love to shoot flowers in macro with all the little details. Apple Blossoms?
