The snowy egret is a beautiful medium-sized white heron. In the 19th century, the birds were slaughtered for their plumes, but with protection they recovered fairly rapidly.

Snowy egrets are among my favorite waterfowl… fortunately there are various places around the city where they like to hang out. Beautiful photos.
Thank you. We have them in the southern part of Oregon but I haven’t seen any here in central Oregon where I live.
Wonderful to hear of a species that has bounced back from exploitation!
I wish more species could be brought back from the verge of extinction.
