I took a couple of photos of the landscape when we were in Klamath taking bird photos. There was so much wide, open space. Driving back that evening we hoped to get some sunset photos. The sunset itself wasn't very impressive but behind us, the colors were beautiful. Maralee
Snowy Egret
The snowy egret is a beautiful medium-sized white heron. In the 19th century, the birds were slaughtered for their plumes, but with protection they recovered fairly rapidly. Maralee
Turkey Vulture
We saw plenty of turkey vultures on our trip to the Klamath Basin. They're beautiful in flight, but they aren't very good looking birds close up. Maralee

Yellow-Headed Blackbird
The yellow-headed blackbird is generally found in western wetlands among the reeds . . . which is exactly where we found this bird. This was a first sighting for me even though the area map for the birds show that they can be found where I live. We saw these when I was out photographing …
