The American Avocet was another new bird for me. We found these birds along the road in a shallow pond area along the road to the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge. With their long legs, long bill and beautiful coloring, they are quite elegant. We enjoyed watching them for some time as they glided across the water.
