For various reasons, I have not been down to visit Scarlett and Rhett at the osprey next for a while. I had hoped they were incubating eggs, but now I’m not so sure.
When I got to the nesting area, Scarlett was sitting on the post near the nest eating something. It was probably a fish but it was difficult to tell. I believe this is Scarlett because of the flecking on her chest.
After finishing her meal, she took off and flew around for a bit. Who knows – Rhett could be incubating the eggs – they do share that responsibility.
I guess time will tell.

That looks more like an old t-shirt than a fish. I hope it was a fish, but whatever it was, it doesn’t look too appetizing.
I’m not certain it was a fish but it looked like a gill in one photo. But I agree – it sure doesn’t look very appetizing.
