Yesterday I went on a bird walk with the East Cascades Audubon Society. It was a stunningly beautiful day for a walk and I got to see a lot of my familiar birds and one or two that I didn’t know I had seen before.
One of the highlights was to have an osprey pass over us . . . twice. The only other time I had seen an osprey, I wasn’t quick enough to get a decent shot of it.
Osprey are migratory and will come to Oregon from April to September. There was a dramatic decline in Osprey in the 1970’s when the pesticide DDT was used. Since DDT was banned in 1972, the Osprey population has been steadily increasing.

Great photos!
Thank you very much.
You are so welcome.
Those are great captures… love them..
Thanks, Rob. I was very excited to see it.
You are lucky to have ospreys to look at. They are very scarce here and I have never seen one except on a remote camera at a nest site.
