I went for a walk at the river recently and am finally hearing sounds of spring. I could hear the red-winged blackbirds calling out – a sure sign of spring.
I photographed this coot near a pond and I think this is the first time I’ve seen a coot out of the water. I didn’t realize they were so round. :-). The duck was standing on the log trying to decide if it should jump into the cold water. It finally did.

Two unusual shots; I’ve never seen a Coot out of the water and the symmetry of the duck is interesting.
great eye Maralee!I asked my bird friend & he told me we do not get any Coots out this way.
I haven’t seen a coot out of the water myself before either, only in photos. They have such bizarre feet!
