Day 136 – Days of Old

I know I’ll be dating myself with this post, but when I learned to type, I started on a manual typewriter.  You know . . .  the ones where you had to put about 10 pounds of pressure on a key in order to get it to strike the ribbon.

We developed strong, fast fingers using those machines.  My neighbor has one of those old typewriters and it brought back some OLD memories.

  1. Stunning … when I went my evening school I had to write on this type – with the “pling” and everything – then the electric came … http://youtu.be/g2LJ1i7222c – give you little music here … I had 90 wpm at my best, amazing that we have gone from this machine to touch screen through my 63 years. The middle photo my pick today.

  2. My first novel was written on a Remington Rand typewriter, my current novel on a Dell laptop. Neither has been published so I don’t see much progress!

  3. Awesome. I remember when I was about 7 and I went to a flee market and picked up an old type writer. My parents had to find ink as well as have a few keys repaired because I told them that I was going to write a book. Your photograph brought back a few good memories 🙂

  4. I actually have my typewriting diploma… so I guess that makes me pretty old too haha.
great shots Maralee! As I told my daughters about a typewriter they didn’t even knew what it was because they are real children of the digital time…laptop iPod mobile phone…
