Our apple tree started to blossom today so I went out to take some shots. Again, the wind was a factor, as it is almost every afternoon. I patiently wait for the wind to die down long enough to get a couple of shots. I’ve figured out that the wind works kind of like waves – they come in sets. If I wait long enough, it will be quiet enough to get a shot.

While I was waiting, I was watching some ants crawling along an old train track wooden beams (I know there’s a name for them by my mind is a blank – after all it is Friday. After a long week of work, my brain is fried). Those little buggers can crawl really fast. I had a hard time getting one to pose for me.

The apple blooms are so fare with you as they are over here … very pretty photo … like the ants. How could make this little fellow so big ?????.. great shot.
He was a pretty big ant but I cropped the photo to get closer. 🙂 Our crabapple tree hasn’t blossomed yet so I’ll be taking photos of them as soon as it does.
Lovely apple blossom image.
Thank you, Mike.
great shots… both! how did you get this soft focus on the apple blossom?
I use a program called NIK Software. They have a suite of programs and the one I used for the soft focus is Color Efex. They have a free 15 day trial if you want to check it out. I believe their website is niksoftware.com.
Love the ant! We had a swarm of them in our backyard last weekend and I got photos of the teeming masses. Hmmm…maybe I’ll post some.
The apple blossom is lovely.
The move so fast, it’s hard to photograph them and get them clear.
It’s pretty and lovely. I like and eat an apple. .
Our apple tree is always pretty when it’s blooming in the spring but we don’t get very many apples off of it. I think it’s too dry here in the summer, even when we water it.
Lovely shots. Around here we call the beams ‘sleepers’. 🙂
