Bee Eaters

For these photos, we did a little experimenting. I had already gotten some bee-eater photos so we decided to slow the shutter speed to get some blur. But it took two to take these photos.

Bee-eaters will generally return to the same branch when it goes off to catch an insect. So when one of the birds left the branch, I focused on the remaining bird while our guide watched the hunting bird. When it started back to the branch he would tell me to shoot – hoping I’d get the flying bird in the shot.

I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the guide. These birds are just too fast.
