I went down to the river hoping to catch a glimpse of my elusive heron. I didn’t have to wait long. I only had to walk about 100 feet along the river before I spotted it standing on a rock in the middle of the river.
I found a somewhat comfortable spot to sit and watch it for a while. I was hoping it would go fishing, and it seemed like it was going to a couple of times, but ultimately it just flew off for bluer waters. I did have about 45 minutes with the bird though.
I really need to start carrying my tripod with me because I’m having a very difficult time getting sharp focused photos of this bird.

Great photos! Always fun to sit & photograph their wide variety of poses. 🙂
Thanks. I was fortunate to find a fairly sheltered place to sit as it was only 23 degrees outside.
Brrrrrr…..now that is a bit cold to watch a GBH. But that’s what we do sometimes for a bird photo, lol. 🙂
