Yesterday was the first day in a long time that I was able to take a walk along the river. We’ve had a lot of snow, rain and cold making walking treacherous. But it was a gorgeous day yesterday and I hoped to get some photos of birds. I wasn’t disappointed. I will post photos over the next few days.
The first bird is the Hooded Merganser. There were quite a few in the river and I photographed this one taking off. I don’t see them flying very often and this one only went a short distance.

Nice captures with great depth of field.
Thanks, Emilio.
Easy to see where the seaplanes got the idea 😉
It is. I love watching the big birds, like the goose, take off. I always wonder how they’re able to lift all of that weight out of the water.
A fine sequence.
Thank you.
I love these birds– such beauty. Your captures are wonderful, Maralee.
Thanks, Jane. I only see them here in the winter and spring and always enjoy seeing them.
Wonderful series!
Nice catch with that walking-on-water effect.
