Cascade Cycling Classic

Maralee_Park_130720_51523-EditDuring the summer, there are always events going on around Central Oregon.  This past week was the Cascade Cycling Classic.  It is the longest consecutively run elite road bicycling stage race in the United States.   Teams of cyclists come from all over the world to compete in this race.

Maralee_Park_130720_51678-EditThese riders are extremely fast and I tried to show some of the action with some blur.  If my shutter speed is too fast, it looks like they’re not moving.

  1. Perhaps this isn’t the most appropriate place to thank you for your LIKE about the RAW versus JPEG post at Pairodox Farm Maralee … yours was the single show of appreciation and the like itself was very much appreciated by me. [Boy, that was a strange sentence.] I’ve looked around Through my Lens and now I’ll have to go walk through your Tuxedo cat blog. Thanks again from one photo-enthusiast to another. D

  2. All of your photos are good…but some of your photos are grrreaaatt!!!!! Beautiful action photos of the sport bikers hitting the corner! What did you shoot that with?

    1. Thank you very much. I use a Nikon D7000. I was doing a lot of experimenting with different shutter speeds, apertures and ISO’s. I’d have to look at the meta data to see what I ended up with on that shot. 🙂

      1. I use a Canon 60d because of its toughness and suitability to my work however I am certainly becoming a fan of Nikon as well. I will continue to follow your work!

  3. I think the narrow top picture captures the sense of speed best though the bottom one runs it close. Photographing action is painfully hard work so thank you you for these.

  4. Since moving to Oregon 7 years ago it’s become obvious that Oregonians are addicted to both cycling and running. We’re a very outdoor healthy bunch. I love to hike myself, whether it’s along rivers or waterfall trails or the 65 acres at the Portland zoo. I rode my Piaggio scooter on a 200 mile plus ride today that included Multnomah Falls, Hood River and the Fruit Loop around Mt Hood and highway 26 all the way from Government Camp to Portland. I came back with two photos. LOL

      1. I’ve been riding touring motorcycles for 37 years and well over 500,000 miles. With a fresh new battery & two new touring tires I ride my Piaggio BV250 Touring Scooter as if it were a full sized motorcycle. Getting 76 mpg on today’s ride it was a cheap $10 day of fun.
