I’d never heard of the salsify plant until I posted some photos in my blog last year. I always just thought it was a weed growing in my garden. Come to find out, it has an edible root. I’ll have to pull one out of the ground and take a look.
There are salsify plants that have gone to seed.

Beautiful!
Thank you very much.
Wow … I have seen photos of yours with the object before, but this is amazing, you’re so close .. so delicate and beautiful. Have problems to get photos to open up today on all blogs … but of those 2,5 photos I see right now … the first one have my vote.
Thank you, Viveka. I think one of the reasons I like the so much is that they are so delicate and soft looking.
I’m waiting for a few in my flower beds to open up. I really like their flowers, and love the big ball of seeds. They are the only weeds I don’t engage in open warfare.
I have a couple that haven’t opened up yet. I’ll try get the flowers when I can. The close so quickly.
That’s is why the master gardener said, don’t let it go to seed. They are just like dandelions. Beautiful photo.
Thank you. The seed is much like a dandelion but much bigger.
What an amazing effect you´ve gotten with such a critic deep of field. Excellent use of selective focus, especially in the first one; this is also my favourite. Congrats!
Thank you so much, Jaime.
I thought it was a dandelion at first. They don’t have edible roots, but you can make wine out of them. 🙂 The salsify looks more elegant or graceful. Beautiful.
So soft and precious…
Thank you.
Beautiful 🙂
Thank you, Inga.
I love the delicate nature and great background on these images. Beautifully done!
Thank you very much.
How pretty. I was wondering where the cilantro and jalapenos might fit in. 🙂
Thank you, Lilly.
Every photograph in this series is beautiful!
