Tropical Flowers . . . Part I

Heliconia
Heliconia

Every year about this time I long for the warm trade winds of Hawaii.  When the snow is blowing, the temperatures are dropping, and there is ice everywhere, I miss the warm sunshine.  And about this time every year, one of the local stores brings in some tropical flowers.  I saw this Heliconia and couldn’t pass it up.  While I can’t be back in Hawaii right now, I can get a little taste of it from the flowers.

  1. I love all the seasons, but since I’ve never experienced warm days of sun in the winter, it could be I would love them even more. Some year perhaps I will find out, but until then a nice fire in the fireplace is lovely to me.

The photos are beautiful. Single blooms to study the lines and colors are the best presentation of these blooms.

    1. Thanks, Shez. When I lived in Hawaii, I missed the snow and cold for about a week . . . right around Christmas time. But they really go all out and decorate over there to make up for the lack of snow. On days like today when it’s about 2 degrees, I do miss the warmth. 🙂
