Day 317 – A Rose is a Rose is a Rose . . .

I picked up this single rose a last week to incorporate into my photo of the mask.  It has started to turn brown around the edges and I wanted to photograph it before it was completely gone.

I used two different backgrounds . . . a white sheet and a sheet that I had the-dyed green to use as a backdrop.  I was going to try it with a black backdrop, but my cats didn’t want to leave me alone.  Pia (photographed here), kept trying to eat the leaves.

It might be sacrilegious to rose lovers out there, but they are not my favorite flower.  I’m much more of a wildflower type of gal.

  1. Some of the photos look like paintings. I love the cat photo against your backdrop. When I took photography classes I used a couple of fabrics for backdrops too. I had forgotten all about that. I even built myself a little box for photographing small or reflective items. Photography can be quite the time-consuming hobby. I hope someday to have more time for it.

    1. Time is my worst enemy when it comes to my photography. It’s especially hard now since I go to work in the dark and leave work in the dark. It doesn’t give me a lot of opportunity to get out and take photos. I may have to set up a small lightbox to take some of my indoor photos.

  2. I also am not particularly fond of roses. Too many thorns, require too much water….. However, since so many people do like them, and San Diego has the nation’s largest public rose garden, I do take quite a few pictures of them.

    1. Portland has a beautiful rose garden (Portland is known as the City of Roses), and when they’re in bloom, it’s very pretty. There are so many different varieties. I was there this spring before the flowers were in full bloom.
