Today I went to the Halloween Cross Crusade Cyclocross races, sponsored by Deschutes Brewery, to take photos and I had so much fun I ended up staying most of the day.
There were races for just about every age group and I would say that, except for the elite racers, 90% of the riders dressed up in costume. Even many of the elite riders had costumes.

I walked around the course to take photos at different positions. It was a huge course with some big obstacles such as climbing step, riding/walking up a very steep hill, climbing over coffin boxes, and navigating a twisting, turning course. I’ve never ridden cyclocross before so this was something totally new to me, but it was so much fun to watch.

They had a ferris wheel for the kids to ride, food booths, beer, wine, merchandise . . . it truly was a family affair type of event.

What fun!
The riders looks like they were having fun. And I sure had fun watching them.
It’s hard enough riding a bike in these events to do it in costume..??? must be fun….
I’d be tempted to try it some time if I was 20 years younger. 🙂
Awesome stuff.
Thanks, Emilio. I took over 1,000 shots, eliminated about 750. I still have close to 300 shots. I couldn’t post them all so I just picked a few. Maybe my cat, Tuxedo, will have to do a blog on the cyclocross.
That, in part, is why I post on SmugMug. The upcoming hummingbirds post has over 160 photos. I’ll highlight a few, but people who are interested can go look at the whole set.
You could use Picasa (or Google+) to store your extra photos so people could look at them all. Not many will, but those who do will appreciate it.
I do have a SmugMug website. I may just upload the whole thing . . . I hadn’t thought anyone would be particularly interested in them.
You never know. Besides, it’s a decent way to back up photos (as long as you keep the account).
Fantastically fun .. and mad. Great, fun and colorful photos. My favorite is the headless biker, so good. You did a good job here and thanks for the big smile the photos. 1000 shots .. you were busy.
The headless rider was the first rider I saw when I got there. I knew right away it would be a fun event.
That looks like a fun race. Great post. 🙂
Thank you, Inga. It was fun as a spectator, so I’m sure the participants had even more fun.
