Day 222 – Crayons

When I was a kid, I always fancied myself as an artist.

I loved to draw, took art classes, and was sure I would one day be a famous artist.  When I was about 7 or 8 years old  I wrote to Santa and asked for an easel and paints for Christmas.  And for insurance, I made sure I was a very good girl that year.  But to my great disappointment, Santa ran out of easels and paints before he got to my house.  I still remember that feeling of being so excited to get up and find my easel on Christmas morning and the heartbreak I felt when it wasn’t there.

But I think that might have been the year Santa brought me a small brownie camera instead.  It didn’t take long for my attention to be diverted from painting to photography and I have been taking photographs ever since.

I still get a twinge of nostalgia whenever I see someone painting and think about what might have been.  But maybe it was fate that I got a camera instead.

  1. Well I’m sorry you didn’t get your wish.. but then I’m glad you got the camera… your photos are so good that I get to enjoy them instead… not saying you would have been a bad artist… but you are a good photographer…

      1. You should hear the different names my wife calls me… it really did not matter I’m just glad you comment that’s all that matters.. names are merely handles…

  2. I can actually smell the crayons!!! I used to love colouring in, and I always had crayons around when I was little. Your pictures bring back a lot of memories… 🙂

  3. Love your photos. There is an artist in every photographer. You ARE an artistic photographer. It was designed your received a camera instead of a easel. The result for you is the same, great work.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
