While out on our walk last evening, I saw these grasses among the rye grass in the field across from our house. These may be rye grass that has “flowered” or something, but they don’t look anything like the other rye grass.

I liked the softness of them. The lighting was too dark and dull to photograph them yesterday so I went out today while the sun was out for a while.

Excellent! I’ve been trying to get out and photograph some of the local grasses, but stuff keeps getting in the way.
Nice treatment, as well.
Thanks, Emilio. I didn’t realize how many different types of grasses there are until I started noticing things to photograph. I’ve come across several interesting grasses that I still have to get out and photograph.
Beautiful pictures, especially the first one !

Thank you, Utham.
Beautiful. The black and white is quite striking but they are all really good.
Thank you, Carissa. I haven’t done much black and white and I thought the grass might be a good B&W subject.
What wonderful photos I specially like the one with the ant.. it gives the seed a dimension, great capture..
Thanks, John. I was fortunate that the and decided to walk through my photo while I was taking it. He left immediately after.
The top one is just excellent! Love the lines and the pattern to it!
Thank you, Monica.
Hey are you going to balloons over bend this weekend? It sounds like there will be great photo ops every morning.
I’m planning on it. I go almost every year. Looks like the weather will cooperate – sometimes it doesn’t. Night glow is Friday night (I think) and I think I’ll take that in too. Are you coming up for that?
the first one is pristine, I will look further, thanks for the link and comment,
this is a poor scan (you can see the dust) but if you click the thumbnail it is a reasonable shot. I call it Minnesota Saltire (can u guess why 😉
I had to look up Saltire – never heard that before so I couldn’t guess why you called it that until I looked it up. How much time did you spend in the Boundary Waters? When I was much younger and still lived there, we’d go out for a week ever summer. It’s one of my favorite places.
Beautiful photos. Amazing when you look at something close up you see it sometimes for the first time! I have taken photos of grasses like this, but only from a distance and loved the way they danced in the wind.
I want to take some photos of the grasses across the street from my house when they’re blowing in the wind. May do a little experimenting with shutter speed and see what I can do for different effects.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
The first photo is absolutely amazing. So simple and so easily capturing the eye, and b&w. Love it!!! Well done!!!!
Thank you so much. Thoses grasses were among a field of rye grass so and caught my eye as I walked past them. Its funny how we start noticing things to photograph wherever we go now. Every little thing has beauty.
I love the amazing lighting and the buttery bokeh…
Thank you so much.
I loved them dear Maralee… they are so artistic and creative, especially the and, is amazing in this photograph… Thank you, love, nia
sorry should be “ant”… 🙂
