Today is one of those cold, windy days where it isn’t much fun being outside. The sun is going in and out between clouds, but the wind is just too much for me. So I took my photos inside using a white and black background.
I go back and forth on whether I like using a black or white background. I guess it depends on my mood for that particular day.
I’d love to get your input as to which background you think looks the best.

I really struggle with photographing Irises for some reason; I’m never happy with the shots I’ve taken, despite trying over and over. You’ve really captured them beautifully here. I love how you’ve composed these images, and I especially like those with the black backgrounds, except the last shot is really nice with the white. They’re ALL really wonderful. Very nice work!

I like both, but think I lean toward the dark background more. Mar, you mentioned having cards for sale. When I looked at the site, I couldn’t figure out what “cards” entail. Do you mean something like note cards? The only thing that I saw was a 5×7 something. If note cards, how many for how much money? Thanks. I love all of your work.

Hi Viveka – thanks so much. I took these indoors and I used a white foam board in the background. For the black background, I just draped a black cloth over the foam board.
Okay … I thought you had some tricks up your sleeve through some software.

Thanks. I like black backgrounds because they’re a bit more dramatic, but sometimes I like the white backgrounds because they look a bit softer.
