We had two birthdays in our office this week.  That’s a lot for an office with only five people.  One of the birthday girls got a lovely bouquet of flowers.  There were a couple of flowers I haven’t photographed before so I took the opportunity to do that.

I loved the colors of the chrysanthemum.  And I love the combination of purple and yellow together.  I’ve photographed the sunflower before, but I love sunflowers and will take any opportunity to photograph them.

Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. The chrysanthemum – beautiful … top photo. Chrysanthemum isn’t one of my favorite flower, because they reminds me about hospital and funerals, same with carnation, not the flowers fault. * laughing – you made them look really beautiful. Sunflowers is a stunning flower.

  2. Nice shots, and processing.

As for birthdays, here something that might interest.

Based on the graph, for a group of five people there is roughly a 2.7% chance two will have the same birthday.

For those who do not like to do math, here is a site that calculates the number for you.

There is a good reason to do this, since your typical scientific calculator cannot handle the large numbers involved in the calculations. My scientific calculator stops at the factorial of 69. The calculator on my Droid will go all the way up to 170!

Weird to think your calculator can’t calculate large numbers, but it’s a function of available memory.

The good news is that the calculator on my PC can handle those large numbers (as should most PCs – they be having large computing power).

    As I said, nice photographs.

      1. Most of it I make up . . . no one actually ever clicks on the links because, you know, it’s Math.

I can say pretty much whatever I want, come off as authoritative (possibly even smart), and rest easy knowing people’s eyes will have glazed over the moment I mention “formula” or “calculate”, and I won’t be called on it.

      2. It’s funny you say that. I supposedly have an aptitude for math (according to all the testing I’ve done), but it’s one of those things that frustrates me to no end so I kind of glaze over when someone poses a math problem to me. I have a sister who LOVES math. She’s a certified MENSA member and loves all that sort of thing. It challenges her brain. Not me . . .

  3. You captured and created such a wonderful photographs, they are amazing and fascinated me. Thank you dear Maralee, this is your artistic touches with them. Love, nia
