I enjoy a lot of flowers, but the calla lily is one of my favorites.  It grows wild along the coast of Oregon.  I think one of the things that draws me to the calla lily is the elegant lines.

Since we still seem to be in winter here, and I don’t have the inclination to go out in the wet and cold when I’m wanting it to be spring, I’ve been photographing a number of flowers.  So today, I’m doing the calla lily.

I have several calla lilies and each of them seems to have different lines, so I took a couple different ones to photograph and used different backgrounds.  I was trying to focus on the beautiful lines of the flowers.  I try to use natural light as much as possible, so these were all done in natural light.

    1. Thank you. I used two different backgrounds. One was just some black cloth and the other was the back of a yellow and white patterned material. I didn’t use the front side because the yellow was too strong for me.

  2. My favorite flower – top photo my favorite – amazing what deep you can get into you photo – if there is anything I don’t like about my camera is’t that the macro is not so good. Where spoiled with my big EOS – every I could come so close – nearly inside the flower.

  3. How beautiful! I find that first picture particularly gorgeous. Here in South Africa we call them ‘varkore’ in Afrikaans, which translates to pig’s ears, can you believe!!!!! Or Arum lilies. 🙂

      1. We have a very interesting country, much like yours. We have areas that are lush and green and just so beautiful it brings tears to your eyes. And then the are the areas that are dry and harsh and stark and one cannot imagine people living there, but they do! So yes, we do have areas where the flora is abundant and it looks like Eden! 🙂

  4. Very beautiful photos. I especially love them against the black fabric. It just makes them pop.

Yes, our gray soggy Oregon has not been alluring for a photo jaunt. I have managed a few between rain storms of plum blossoms last weekend and cherry blossoms a couple of days ago. Today, not inviting at all.

Summer will come at least by September 😉

  5. Incredible again. I’m going to have to get my thesaurus out for beauty… it’s a daily thing with you. These calla lilies are simply sensual and frankly erotic if I may say so. And again blown up and framed. Maybe you could start selling prints on your site.

  6. What stunning photos, the resultant point of focus, and slight blurring enhances the beauty of the flower, I stand in awe of your ability to make such shots, beautiful no other way to describe them.

  7. WELCOME TUXEDO! Thank you for subscribing to follow my blog. I hope you are encouraged, inspired and like the photographs I take during my adventures in my retirement years. I look forward to sharing, liking and commenting on your posts.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
