Alpenglow is defined as: “a reddish glow seen near sunset or sunrise on the summits of mountains.”
This morning as I was driving to work, the mountains were clear with just a few clouds hovering around them. I thought it might be a good “alpenglow” morning so I went out to my new favorite spot to photograph the mountains. It was a gorgeous morning and I wasn’t disappointed. The alpenglow wasn’t as strong as it is sometimes, but it was still a beautiful morning. All I needed was some deer to cross my path.
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, but I still enjoyed the sun on the mountains.

You live on a beautiful spot – views like that … on your way to work. Envy – today my day is full of rain and wind.
Viveka – we do live in a beautiful area. Lots of trees, lakes and mountains. Great for outdoor activities. We are on the east side of the mountains so we don’t get much moisture, although the mountains can get 200 inches of snow a year and they’re only about 20 miles from where I live.
