Dark-Eyed Junco (Oregon). I learned something interesting today . . . in most places the dark-eyed junco is mostly gray. But in the western part of the country, they look like this. They are one of the most common birds in North America although here we see them mostly in the winter.


Yup, got gray ones here. Actually, I just started seeing them. Some of my favorite birds. They always seem so focused.
They are one of the few things I like about winter.
No fires (maybe), cool weather, no need to mow the grass, kids in school, and, of course, … no; that’s it.
