I have never seen this bird before but I believe it is a juvenile sharp-shinned hawk. Or maybe it’s an American Kestrel. Or a Merlin. Whatever it is, it flew onto a dam while I was walking along the river. It was quite a ways away and even with a 500mm lens, it was difficult to get a very good shot of it.
Maybe one of my readers can positively identify it for me.

But, I ain’t be gots my usual resources while traveling, so I’m probably wrong.
I’m leaning to an immature female Merln, Maralee, but let’s see what every one else says. 🙂
