Have you noticed that when it is hot, they sit around with their mouths open a lot. I think it helps cool them. As much as I love my hummers and am watching them all the time, I saw a first yesterday. A female drinking at the feeder attached to my window got “mounted” by a male! She took it with grace; then, he came back around and this time bopped her on the head, and the fight was on. Very entertaining!
