While driving from Canmore to Jasper, we were hoping to see some wildlife. We made a stop along the road (along with about 30 other people) where a grizzly was seen. I caught a glimpse of it in the brush but couldn’t get any photos of it.
A little further down the road, we decided to take a side road and see if there was anything we could see. We almost drove right passed it because it didn’t look like there was anything interesting. But we took the road and ran into this wonderful fellow. We were able to sit (in our car, of course) and observe it for about 10 minutes. There was no one else there. The bear seemed totally oblivious to us. It was very intent on turning over rock to find food.
We were both terribly excited for having come across this bear and having it all to ourselves.

What a sighting! And more terrific photographs as well, Maralee!
Thanks. It was so exciting to see the wildlife. I’d probably faint if I were able to visit your part of the world.
Sadly, our wildlife too is becoming more and more confined to protected areas…
I’m happy that you were in your car! Gorgeous photos!
Thank you. Yes, we made sure we were safely ensconced in the vehicle.
🙂 good!
Another well taken opportunity.
We had many wonderful wildlife opportunities. It was pretty amazing.
Fantastic shots! And lucky you 🙂
Thanks, Stacy. It was thrilling for us and I will never forget it.
