I always carry my camera with me when I go for my walks and usually I see the same birds . . . ducks, geese, sparrows. So I was excited to see this bird while walking yesterday. I didn’t know what it was at the time, but I knew I hadn’t seen this particular bird before. It was in a protected water area so I couldn’t get any closer than I was. This photo is highly cropped. I put the third picture with the duck in only to show the size difference.
According to my bird book, this bird is uncommon in our area.
I wish I could have gotten a little closer.
