We’ve had a single quail hanging out at around the house the last few days. I don’t know where the rest of his family is – I hope nothing bad happened to them.
We used to have a whole bunch, but they often flew into our large windows (tried hanging all kinds of things to no avail). Most survived, but dazed for a bit. They were ground feeders from under the bird feeder, so I suspect more vulnerable than some other birds. I loved that they’d post a sentry to watch for danger. I sure miss seeing them since I moved.
I hear the guy liked to tap fermented fruit, and got abusive . . . his mate kicked him out before he hurt the kids.
. . . smarter than human women, his mate is.
Nice photo. I like the glint in the eye.
Either that or his mate is off having babies. I’m thinking there will be baby quail early this year after the terribly mild winter we had.
So sweet. Hope others turn up soon!
Thanks. I’m hoping I see them again soon, too.
I love these birds. We don’t have them around here. I hope all is well.
We used to have quail in Minnesota but I don’t ever remember them being very colorful.
Cool!
Thanks.
I really love these excentric american quails! I’m sure his family is well – he only makes the scout for the following pack.:-)
I’m hoping the rest of the family shows up soon . . . maybe with some new babies.
Love the profile!
Thank you.
He’s just out on the town looking to cause some trouble……………
Probably. 🙂

I always worry about them. We have quite a few feral cats in the area that I am afraid kill some of the quail.
Stunning bird … stunning photo – love the colors he has – never seen a quail that close before.
Thanks, Viveka. We have them in our yard quite often.
Close up a truly beautiful bird … with stunning colors.
The blue hues are great with such a pretty bird! I hope my quails return this year.
These quail are much more colorful than the quail I remember when I was growing up in Minnesota. Not that I was paying much attention back then.
This is such a fantastic shot! 🙂
Thank you, Inga.
Amazing!!! :O 😀
Thank you very much.
BEAUTIFUL
Thank you, Yassin.
