I looked it up – it’s a White-crowned Sparrow. It has just recently arrived in my yard and from reading about it, it seems this bird arrives in North America for the winter. Does that mean we’re going to have an early winter this year? It’s only September . . . I’m not ready!!!

Definitely a little nip in the air but not so unusual for the end of Sept. At least this is a sweet little bird to watch. Happy fall:)
He is a sweet little bird. It’s been chilly here and I think when it clears we’ll see snow on the mountains.
What a pretty bird! Maybe he’s just early… great shots.
Thanks, Jane. It’s funny – I’ve only seen them in the area where I live. Four miles away at my office they haven’t appeared yet. We have many micro-climates here.
If winter comes early to North America he might have no time to look around in Europe… ***whistle***
Europe had a tough winter last year when we had a mild one. Maybe the tables will be turned this year.
I think according to the Farmer’s Almanac we’re going to have a bad one this year. His visit could be a sign. 🙂
I heard that . . . we’ll have to wait and see. I hope it’s not accurate.
Oh I love the sparrow and I hope he stays by you all winter so that you have him to take snaps of… these are great… and please start with your winter now that we can have our summer back…
It’s waaaaaaaaaay too early for winter. 🙂 We haven’t had a decent fall yet.
Looks like he’s got the attitude to go with the hair style. 🙂
I think he does. He know’s he’s cute.
What a beautiful bird and photos!
Thanks, Judy. He’ll probably be around for a bit. We’ve had a big cool-down this week.
We had snow on Pikes Peak this weekend. It’s still around.
I think that once the clouds clear here, we will have snow on the mountains.
It’s so cute! Lovely captures 🙂
Thank you, Inga.
Yes, it has turned cool in Reno as well. And wet. We could use it, so I’m not complaining.
It was below freezing here this morning with frost on the ground. Brrrr. But we’re supposed to have a bit of a warmup over the weekend.
Cheeky looking bird. Nice shots!
Thanks, Carissa.
Looks cool in the first one, like it’s striking a pose 😀
I think he was staring me down, just daring me to take his photo.
