There’s a variety of flower I see all the time at the Portland, OR Zoo called a blanket flower that strongly resembles your coneflower. I was there this morning and they were all closed up just like that cone shape. Blanket flowers are brilliantly colored yellow/orange/red flowers with a huge center like a sunflower.
I looked up blanket flower and I have seen those here before. They’re beautiful flowers. I haven’t seen any recently but they planted a ton of wildflowers down by the river so I’ll have to go check it out and see if any are blooming yet. They weren’t as of two weeks ago.

Early morning light is nice for just about any type of photography. Now if I didn’t have to work, I could get out early more often.
