As I was going into the gym today, I noticed these daffodils in full bloom.  But what really caught my eye was the daffodils with these old, gnarly trees behind them.  I decided to photograph them with the tree in the background.  Not so easy.  The daffodils are low to the ground and a little distance from the tree.  My tripod wouldn’t allow the camera to go low enough to get the flower and the tree.  I couldn’t lie down on the ground as I was in my work clothes.  Alright, I could have laid down on the ground, but I didn’t.  The other option was to put the camera in a position I thought was correct and wish for the best.  I took a lot of really awful photos that were blurry and out of focus.  But I was able to get a few pretty much in focus.

  1. Daffodils – bring them on …. let us get the sun down to earth. We have such a gloomy morning too – rainy and grey – just want to go back under the duvet. Woke up to early from a dream that I was back on chemo !!!! So lets get more daffodils into our morning !!!

  2. Well done. Daffodils are so enchanting and my family keeps asking me “what are you doing?” when they find me in precarious positions. I haven’t lost it, it’s that the face of the daffodils always seem to be pointing down. The ant’s eye view is what works with them. Plastic drop cloth in the car? The little tripods are cool, but it’s hard to focus because the viewfinder is down, but our vision is still up. 😉

  3. Looks like I am having cpu problems too!! Yesterday I typed out a l response to this post only to see that it was never posted :-(.

Well I know what it is like being tempted to lay down in the grass and dirt to get a good shot and then thought about it and said forget it! I am just glad that you actually keep your camera and tripod in your car. I use to keep my camera and tripod in the car but after a few weeks of not using it I took them out and I have regretted that decision ever since. I will try and remember to pack up my camera equipment tomorrow for just in case moments like the one above. I am just hesitant about leaving stuff like that in the car even though I work in a secure area..

  4. We live in a pretty secure area and as long as I keep my car locked, I feel pretty good about leaving my tripod in the trunk. I should probably pack an old blanket or something too for the times I want to lay down on the ground. 🙂

I'd love to hear from you
