Tulips remind me of spring, and that’s about the only thing that is spring-like here today. It’s cold and we’ve had a few snow flurries already today. And this is the forecast for the next week.

I picked up these tulips several days ago because I really liked the coloring. When I bought them, the flowers were very tight and I was waiting until they opened a bit before photographing them. But once they started opening, they opened very quickly. I took these photographs in two sessions. The photos with the light background were taken in the morning and the dark background were taken in the afternoon when the flowers had opened even more.

Tulips are beautiful Maralee and you captured them beautifully!
I love the contrast bween the soft morning photos in the light and the more dramatic afternoon shots with the dark backgrounds…… dramatic and beautiful
These are lovely – the composition, the lighting, background. The black background, especially the last one has the look of a Dutch painting.
I absolutely love the last photo. Stunning!
All of the captures are incredible, Maralee! Wonderful work.
Amazing pictures , Maralee !
Love the colors…

I love tulips, and I love your pictures. 🙂
Thank you very much.
Lovely photo’s – also a tulip girl … thanks for your mail .. will check your post again and do my pick. We had snow early this morning – just a small amount and now the spring sun is back. Wonderful to be alive. Top one – my favorite … like the softness.
Thanks, Viveka. I spent a few hours at a tulip farm in Amsterdam some years ago and was in heaven. They are so beautiful.
Yes, they are very beautiful .. my grandma had a black tulips – what we call parrot tulips with the frizzy edges. They where very close to black – where so fascinated by them as child.
Great photos…love the second one especially!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Yes the black backgrounds…. 3rd and 4th look like they are speaking to you and the last one has incredible presence and balance.
Thanks, Wendy. I appreciate it.
These are really good. Well done. A lot of thought and creativity has gone into these.
Thanks, Kenneth. I’m finding I’m really enjoying doing photographs of flowers. I haven’t done much of it in the past. I’m learning a lot from it.
Gorgeous photos! I can’t even tell you how much I love tulips, and what fantastic colors you have! These are great 🙂
Thank you. I love tulips too. I can’t wait for spring to arrive here and have tulips in my garden.

Thank you!! I appreciate your support and comments.
So beautiful! It’s impossible not to be fascinated by your works.
Thank you so much.
Huge fan of Tulips and you captured these wonderfully! I really like each and every photo in this series!
Thank you. I’m waiting for the tulips to come out of the ground so I don’t have to go buy them to photograph them. But looking at the ground today (snow), it may be a few more weeks.
