I went to another park on my lunch break today to look for some new subjects.  It was a bitterly cold, windy day and I didn’t want to have to spend too much time outdoors.  There were a couple of cross-country skiers braving the cold and practicing in the park.

In one sheltered area, there were some fresh buds on a branch telling me that spring is, in fact, on its way.  A section of the park had a planting area with stakes just waiting for the plants to arrive.  I liked the patterns they made in the snow.

  1. Those stakes make awesome patterns indeed (and simultaneously make me dream of tomatoes). And wow, look at those little buds! I think that shot is my favorite.

    1. Thanks Sarah. When I saw those stakes, it made me think of tomatoes too. But tomatoes don’t grow very well here. We have a very short growing season. I try and try every year, and might get a dozen tomatoes and that’s it. But I shall persevere.

    1. I’m kind of partial to the pine cone too. I was happy with how it came out. I have some trouble working with such high contrast subjects. But I took your advice and spot metered on the pine cone. Thank you.

  2. Like the pinecone – but the little buds … talk more to me – about what’s coming next: SPRING! So much snow still ???? Don’t know what happen to our winter – had a week of frost and one day of snow – so long as it doesn’t comes in April!!! I want winter to be winter and summer to be summer. Have a great Thursday – today is yellow pea soup over here – every Thursday !!!

    1. Viveka – enjoy your yellow pea soup. Every day with soup is a good day. I’m with you . . . I want winter to be winter and spring to be spring. We had another 5-6 inches of snow overnight last night. It’s very pretty, and still very cold. I’m going to be happy when spring arrives.

    1. Thank you. When I have a shot like that with the dark and the white, I have to bracket my shots and chose the best one to work with. I do some HDR work but this one didn’t work very well with HDR. I was happy how it turned out. Thanks.

      1. Marallee are you sure?Yesterday was snowing in the island…the last time we have snow here was on 2001 🙂
But today was a springful day..
I will be greatful to meet you in our warm summer here in Kythera 🙂

  3. I’m with the pine cone, too. It’s just so snuggly nestled there in the snow. (although the planters and their shadow circles are excellent)
